In early 2017, one of the Onision.xyz moderators emailed Onision’s management account asking for additional moderation tools.
The moderator explained that the forum was dealing with spam accounts and requested stronger powers, including the ability to:
* Warn users
* Ban users
* Moderate more sections
* Stand out more clearly as moderators
Onision replied and summarized what he understood the moderators’ role to be:
: “Moderators are mostly all just doing their job already right? You know… no spam, no offensive imagery etc. Basically just keeping the forums clean :)”
=== What the Record Establishes ===
This exchange shows that the forum was not being treated as an unregulated space.
Instead, the email chain reflects an active moderation structure in which:
* Moderators already existed
* Spam enforcement was expected
* Offensive imagery was not permitted
* Users could be warned or banned
* The stated purpose of moderation was to keep the forums clean
The moderator’s own request also confirms that enforcement was an ongoing issue being actively managed, not ignored.
=== Why It Matters ===
Later characterizations of the Onision forums as a lawless or deliberately predatory environment are contradicted by this exchange.
The record shows that moderators were in place, were discussing enforcement tools, and were expected to keep the forum clean by addressing spam and inappropriate material.
This directly supports the position that the forum had rules, staff, and content standards, rather than functioning as a “wild west” without oversight.

2006–Present: Onision and UhOhBro Publish Broad Entertainment for General Audiences

From 2006 onward, the Onision channel published a large catalog of public entertainment. Beginning in 2014, UhOhBro similarly published

Archived Onision YouTube channel showing songs, comedy sketches, quizzes, commentary, collaborations, and general entertainment uploads.
An archived Onision channel page showing songs, comedy sketches, quizzes, commentary, and collaborations presented to the general YouTube audience.

broad commentary and reaction content covering numerous unrelated subjects.

The visible catalogs include:

  • Comedy sketches and parody
  • Original songs and music videos
  • Anime and popular culture
  • Relationships and lifestyle commentary
  • Internet memes and reactions
  • Social experiments and optical illusions
  • Celebrity and appearance transformations
  • Technology, health, pets, toys, and unusual stories

What the Channel Record Establishes

The channels were presented as public entertainment platforms—not dating services, private youth programs, sexual communities, or organizations created to establish personal access to minors.

The subject matter changes substantially from video to video and appeals to a broad online audience. Adults, fictional characters, celebrities, musicians, relationships, comedy, technology, and general-interest topics appear throughout the catalogs.

Onision popular-video page showing music, parody, anime, comedy, Pokémon, social experiments, and other entertainment uploads.
Onision’s popular uploads span music, parody, anime, comedy, social experiments, and other general entertainment.

The displayed record establishes that:

  • The channels covered many unrelated entertainment subjects
  • Their content was openly distributed to the general YouTube public
  • The catalogs were not organized around one gender or age group
  • The channels were not branded as places for minors to form private relationships with Onision
  • No recruitment or sexual-solicitation message appears in the displayed catalogs
  • Their overall presentation was that of mass-audience entertainment channels

This is directly relevant to claims that Onision’s channels were created or operated as a funnel for identifying and recruiting minors.

The presence of younger viewers within a large public audience does not establish that the channels themselves targeted minors for sexual activity. The channel catalogs demonstrate broad entertainment programming rather than a specialized minor-focused recruitment operation.

2009–Present: The Onision Forums Have Long-Standing Rules Prohibiting Illegal

Early Onision forum board-rules page listing bans on spam, porn, gore, harassment, sexual-detail discussion, revealing personal information, and illegal conduct.

and Inappropriate Conduct

Across multiple versions of the Onision Forums from 2009 forward, the posted board rules consistently prohibited unlawful, abusive, and sexually inappropriate conduct.

The rule sets shown above include repeated restrictions such as:

  • No spam
  • No porn
  • No gore
  • No harassment or flaming
  • No supporting crime or criminals
  • No supporting non-consensual violence
  • No revealing personal information
  • No lying or false identities
  • No discussion of sexual details

    A later Onision forum rules page again prohibiting spam, porn, gore, non-consensual violence, crime advocacy, harassment, revealing personal information, and false identities.

What the Record Establishes

These posted rules directly contradict the later characterization of the forum as ruleless or a so-

called “wild west.”

The forum was not presented as an unmoderated sexual space. To the contrary, the written rules show that the forum was structured around moderation, compliance with U.S. law, and restrictions on inappropriate conduct.

Another Onision forum rules page showing the same core moderation standards, including bans on porn, sexual-detail discussion, harassment, and unlawful conduct.

The exhibits establish that:

  • The forum had written rules across multiple eras
  • Those rules prohibited pornography and sexual-detail discussion
  • The rules prohibited harassment and other abusive conduct
  • The rules prohibited support for criminal activity
  • The rules prohibited false identities and doxxing-type behavior
  • The rules expressly tied moderation to legal compliance

This is materially inconsistent with any claim that the forum was created or operated as a predatory free-for-all. The written rules show the opposite: an attempt to maintain standards, restrict unlawful behavior, and keep the

forum moderated.

January 23–February 4, 2017: Onision Tells a Moderator the Forum’s Job Is to Keep the Boards Clean

Email exchange from early 2017 in which an Onision forum moderator asks for more powers and Onision replies that moderators are there to stop spam, offensive imagery, and keep the forums clean.
A forum moderator asked for stronger moderation tools, and Onision responded by describing the moderators’ role as preventing spam, offensive imagery, and other improper content so the forums would remain clean.

In early 2017, one of the Onision.xyz moderators emailed Onision’s management account asking for additional moderation tools.

The moderator explained that the forum was dealing with spam accounts and requested stronger powers, including the ability to:

  • Warn users
  • Ban users
  • Moderate more sections
  • Stand out more clearly as moderators

Onision replied and summarized what he understood the moderators’ role to be:

“Moderators are mostly all just doing their job already right? You know… no spam, no offensive imagery etc. Basically just keeping the forums clean :)”

What the Record Establishes

This exchange shows that the forum was not being treated as an unregulated space.

Instead, the email chain reflects an active moderation structure in which:

  • Moderators already existed
  • Spam enforcement was expected
  • Offensive imagery was not permitted
  • Users could be warned or banned
  • The stated purpose of moderation was to keep the forums clean

The moderator’s own request also confirms that enforcement was an ongoing issue being actively managed, not ignored.

Why It Matters

Later characterizations of the Onision forums as a lawless or deliberately predatory environment are contradicted by this exchange.

The record shows that moderators were in place, were discussing enforcement tools, and were expected to keep the forum clean by addressing spam and inappropriate material.

This directly supports the position that the forum had rules, staff, and content standards, rather than functioning as a “wild west” without oversight.
